What Does 🤩 Mean in Texting?
In texting, 🤩 usually adds a strong feeling of “Wow!” to a message.
It can communicate:
- Amazement
- Excitement
- Admiration
- Enthusiasm
- Delight
- Being impressed
- Being dazzled
- Strong appreciation
For example:
“That cake looks incredible 🤩”
Here, 🤩 means the person is very impressed by how the cake looks.
“You got tickets?! 🤩”
In this context, it shows excitement about unexpected or exciting news.
“Your performance was amazing 🤩”
Here, it expresses admiration rather than romantic interest.
The emoji can therefore react to people, things, experiences, achievements, news, images, or ideas.
Why Does 🤩 Mean “Wow”?
The visual design explains a lot of its emotional effect. Instead of ordinary eyes, the face has stars, while its wide smile creates an expression of intense excitement.
That combination makes 🤩 feel stronger than a normal smile. Emojipedia describes it as a face with stars for eyes that can express something as amazing, fascinating, impressive, or exciting.
In everyday language, 🤩 can often be translated as:
“Wow!”
“That is amazing!”
“I can’t believe how good this is!”
“I’m impressed!”
“I’m obsessed with this!”
The exact wording depends on the conversation.
Star Eye Emoji Meaning From Someone
If someone sends you 🤩, they are usually showing a strong positive reaction to something you said, showed, or shared.
For example:
“I finally finished my painting 🤩”
The sender may be expressing admiration for the painting.
“Look at this new car 🤩”
Here, the emoji shows excitement about the car.
“You look amazing 🤩”
In this situation, the emoji strengthens the compliment. It can sound enthusiastic and admiring, but the emoji alone does not prove romantic interest.
The safest way to understand 🤩 is to read it together with the words around it.
Is the Star Eye Emoji Flirty?
🤩 can appear in a flirty conversation, but it is not inherently a flirting emoji.
For example:
“You look incredible in that picture 🤩”
This could be a strong compliment. It is romantic depends on the relationship and the rest of the conversation.
Compare that with:
“That new gaming setup is amazing 🤩”
There is clearly no romantic meaning required.
So 🤩 can communicate admiration, but admiration does not automatically equal attraction.
🤩 vs. 😍: What’s the Difference?
These two emojis are easy to confuse.
🤩 Star-Struck is more about being dazzled, amazed, excited, or impressed.
😍 Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes is more strongly associated with love, affection, attraction, or enthusiastic admiration. Unicode’s current keyword set for 😍 includes terms such as “heart-eyes,” “love,” “romance,” and “kisses,” while 🤩 is associated with “excited,” “star-struck,” and “wow.”
Compare:
“That singer’s performance was incredible 🤩”
This emphasizes being impressed.
“That singer is so beautiful 😍”
This can emphasize attraction or affection.
The difference is not absolute, but 🤩 leans toward amazement, while 😍 more often carries an affectionate or romantic tone.
🤩 vs. 🥰
🥰 Smiling Face with Hearts usually feels warmer, softer, and more affectionate.
🤩 feels more energetic and amazed.
For example:
“Thank you for the beautiful gift 🥰”
This sounds warm and affectionate.
“You actually got me the new phone?! 🤩”
This sounds excited and amazed.
Both can be positive, but they create different emotional flavors.
🤩 vs. 🤯
🤯 Exploding Head represents a much more extreme “mind blown” reaction.
Use 🤩 when something is amazing or impressive.
Use 🤯 when something is so surprising, unbelievable, complicated, or shocking that it feels like your mind has been blown.
For example:
“That performance was incredible 🤩”
versus:
“Wait… the entire story was connected from the beginning?! 🤯”
The first expresses admiration. The second expresses extreme surprise.

Does 🤩 Mean “I’m Obsessed”?
Sometimes people use 🤩 to exaggerate enthusiasm and communicate something like:

As with many emoji meanings, exaggeration is common in casual messaging.
How to Respond to 🤩
Your response depends on what caused the excitement.
If someone compliments your work:
“Thank you! 😊”
If someone is excited about good news:

“Glad you like it! 😄”
